In John 8:6 Jesus gave the adulterous woman’s accusers time to think. Then Jesus came back with a question.

How many times has God given you a chance to think and you blew it? Instead of showing mercy as you recognize your own human condition – you caused another person to suffer when you could have shown mercy.

Think about the times your children made a mistake. Instead of using the situation as a teaching moment which could mean silence on your part – you lashed out in anger. Or consider the times when someone hurt you. It could have been your mate, a friend, or a co-worker. Instead of allowing God to use that person to develop you; instead of praying and waiting to hear from God; you decided to get even by hurting that person or another person, thereby establishing another one of your life’s victims.

Consider allowing God to use you to bless others. Sometimes it’s not easy to respond to disappointment and pain with mercy and grace. Do it anyway. God will repay you for all of the good you do in the earth.
