The Word of God has a lot to say about love. When I think of love, an understanding of acceptance, peace, and joy; mingled with a sense of protection and harmony comes to my mind. Yet I know, these things rarely come together in our lives. Even though we expect our family members to love us…many times that is not the case. When we do not receive love from our natural families, we still have the opportunity to feel loved by the church; or do we? There are many stories of church hurt as the reasons why people don’t believe in God. People stop attending church because of how they have been treated in the house of God.
Well, we can stop associating with family after being mistreated. We can also leave the church when we have been hurt or excluded. Then what? The good news is . . . God is still loving. God is still kind. God is still everything we could ever want or need! And he is waiting to heal your brokenness.
Give God the opportunity to bless you. The Word says, God is love. (I John 4:8) Relationship with God includes the acceptance, peace, joy, protection, and harmony you have been longing for in your life. The love of God encourages you through brokenness and dealing with the brokenness of others. Everything comes together when you give God your whole heart.
The best thing you can do is establish a relationship with God!
