In John 8 a woman stood before Jesus because she had been caught in the act of committing adultery. Her punishment for committing adultery was to be death by stoning. That meant people would throw stones at her until she succombed. Other people had been executed by stoning during those days.
You may ask . . “how is John's account of the adultress woman important to me?” Perhaps the most important thing is, ”This woman’s life was spared because she met Jesus. This woman's life was spared because she had the opportunity to talk to God.”
Just think, if you had the opportunity to confer with God after your sins got you into big trouble. . . you too could have a different outcome than what the people would cause you to suffer. If you would take the opportunity to converse with God in prayer; you too, would be blessed by the presence of God and the changes God will make in your life.
Pay particular attention to John 8:9 where the woman was left in the presence of Jesus. Her accusers were all gone away. Even though you have committed great sin -- God has not left you. You too can pray and ask God to change your life!
Won't he do it?!!
