THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD – 9 & 10
Today we will cover the last of the 10 Commandments. As we complete this review, notice how all 10 Commandments support each other. God is allowing us to see how love and respect for God along with love and respect for others leads to a life God can bless. Let’s review 9 & 10.
9. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.
This commandment is simply urging us to tell the truth. Telling lies about someone you know or about strangers is hurtful and damaging.
People can trust you when you are honest
Honesty is a character trait to be sought after; honesty allows us to gain respect as a person; honesty is important in all walks of life
10. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbor's.
With this commandment God is teaching us not to give too much attention to another person’s relationships or possessions. God wants each one of us to be thankful for what we have been given.
Gazing at another person with envy leads to jealousy, and negative self-talk. You never know what goes on in another person’s house.
Allow other people to be a source of encouragement and inspiration; not a source of competition.
These 10 Commandments were given by God for the benefit of all of humanity. When we follow the instructions God has given, a lot of stress is eliminated. Following the Commandments of God leads to harmonious living alongside God and with other people.
Be blessed
