Like many of you, I have been saddened by the news of yet another unlawful killing of an unarmed young Black man by a police officer. Our young people are hurting. People are angry. Who can blame them? As parents and seasoned members of society, I believe it is our responsibility to seek God that we may bring focus to the problem and recommend paths to solutions for the problems we are facing today.
I remember waking up on my 50th birthday. The first words I heard from the Lord were “It’s time to start giving back.” I understood my responsibility and I endeavor to give back whenever I have an opportunity. If you have been reading my blogs, then you know my best response to the issues of society is to seek God for guidance. God does not always speak immediately and when he speaks we may not like the message. However, history has shown, the best results are obtained when we wait on the Lord.
Today, I will share what I heard from the Lord about the most recent developments. The Spirit of the Lord says, “My people must come back to me. I have the plan for their deliverance. I have the plan for their protection. I have the plan for their freedom. There is no substitute for relationship with God. There is no way to get past these struggles we are in the midst of without God.”
If we look back on race relations in this country we must acknowledge how much we have progressed under the guidance of the Lord. Yet, we have decided to abandon God midstream and approach the systems of this world as our first point of contact rather than seeking God for guidance before approaching the System for justice. Let me remind you today, our success as a people, as a society, as a world is all tied up in our relationship with God.
So today, I am calling on all faith based leaders to pray and ask God for his plan to move forward. I suggest we pray for:
1. God’s direction
2. Guidelines on how to organize
3. Agreement to move forward in accordance with the directions and organization God reveals in prayer
I know many people reject Christianity because they think Christians do nothing but pray. If you read your Bible, you know Christians are not always passive.
Stay in faith
