In Mark 1 Jesus began to call his disciples to work with him in ministry. Notice, when Jesus called Simon, Andrew, James, and John they did not hesitate to leave what they were doing and begin their new assignment. They quickly moved in obedience to the call of God on their lives. Some people may say, they were only fishermen. They should have been excited to move to a new job. Regardless, they were leaving the known conditions of their work to follow God by faith.
We face the same challenge today. Jesus is still calling people to work in his ministry. Some people answer quickly and go to work for the Lord. Others, hesitate, wait, and question themselves and God. If you have heard the call of God on your life -- I encourage you to move quickly in obedience to the Lord. It may not seem like a big deal now but it is really a big deal. Other people are tied to your ‘yes’. Everyone God calls to ministry has some people to serve. Don’t waste your gift and cause others to miss out on the blessing God sent in you. Move to obedience today – even if it’s been years since you heard the call!
