When Noah sent out a raven and a dove in Genesis 8:7-8 he was sending two very different birds. The way each bird responded gave Noah a message about conditions outside of the ark. It seems the raven was able to live without returning to Noah. At the same time, the dove did not find a resting place outside of the ark so the dove returned to Noah. There is a lesson in these two responses from 2 very different birds.
The raven did not require the same kind of environment the dove required. Therefore, the raven was able to live successfully before vegetation was able to grow in the earth. The dove took a little longer because his main diet consisted of vegetation.
When you think about it – humans are much the same. Some people go out and find their way without much help, in the worst kinds of situations and conditions in life. Others, need more time to find a way into the future. The good news is – there is a time when both kinds of people find their place and move successfully into their future. Noah did his work as a caregiver when he put both the raven and the dove out of the window to fly. He knew they were prepared to go out and live on their own. He watched over them the entire time they were in the ark and when it was time he encouraged them to fly!
This look at Noah, the raven, and the dove can help us understand differences among people. When we have been prepared to leave a place where we have become comfortable – we can leave. That goes for every one of us! If your destiny is away from your current position in life – God has a way of pushing you out of your comfort zone into the life God has prepared for you! Use your wings & soar in this life – doing all God has ordained for you to do. You can receive all God has for you!!
