When Abraham was instructed to sacrifice Isaac, his son . . . God had a greater plan. Abraham trusted God unconditionally. Abraham was aware of God’s plan to use Isaac to start a line of descendants that would out-number the stars in the sky. Yet he trusted God.
We read the story now and think of Abraham as a hero beyond life. In reality, Abraham had failings just like you and me. Despite his human frailties, God trusted Abraham because of his faith.
This account of Abraham’s life encourages us to trust God. In today’s time we know God would not call us to sacrifice our children. Abraham came from a culture where child sacrifice was common. In other words, God was saying to Abraham, ‘Will you go back to your old ways or do you trust the true and living God?’
When we choose to follow Christ we have that same question before us. Will we live by logic, feelings, and worldly teachings or do we trust God? Abraham never would have known God had a ram in the bush if he had not followed God’s instructions. We too, will never see the blessings God has laid in store for us if we do not follow the instructions God has already given. I pray for us to stay in the conversation/prayer with God so we can receive each and every blessing God has for us! (Genesis 22)
Be blessed
