The Lord is good

The Lord is good and his mercy endures forever… these are not the exact words of Psalm 100:5 but it’s how I recall the verse. It is comforting to know God never forgets about us. God knows who we are and he knows exactly where we are emotionally, physically and spiritually. As we go forth into a brand-new week my life is different. The lives of many people will be different this week – especially for those people who have lost a loved one/had a loved one move from this life into eternity. We will be challenged with figuring out how to move forward.

We celebrated my Dad’s homegoing this past week. Though it may seem like a small thing to people outside of my family – when my Dad folded up his earthly tent it became a big deal for my family. The words of Psalm 100:5 give hope and encouragement while shining a light of promise into the future.

Psalm 100:5 gives assurance of the goodness of God at all times. God’s mercy is always with us. The mercy of God allows us to know we need not be perfect. With our flaws and shortcomings, God looks at the heart. When you and I have the intention of being obedient, doing God’s will, of loving other people – the mercy of God shows up on our lives to protect and shield us from all hurt, harm, and danger. Mercy is included with God’s unmerited favor towards Christians.

As we enter this new week — be encouraged to seek God at all times. In times of trouble most people seek the Lord. In times of joy — continue to seek God’s face. If you seek God during the good times . . . God will be ever present with you in times of trouble, hurt, and pain.

May the blessings of the Lord push you forward even more today than yesterday!
