Faith without Works
James 2:14 & 18 talk about faith without works and the fact that saying we believe something without proper action – is ineffective. When we say we believe – our actions should indicate our beliefs. Anything less will not produce what we want to see in our lives.
The example given in James 2:15-16 is about someone who is without clothing and food. James says If you encourage that person without giving them something to cover their body or without giving them food to eat – your words are useless. Your words are useless because you did nothing to help them reach a goal of being clothed and being fed.
Today, many of us do not fear a shortage of clothing or food. We often have enough clothes to give away and food to throw out. Yet, this lesson is of major importance to all of us. This lesson is important because it lets us know whenever you believe God for something – your request to God and your belief that God will make a way is to be supported by your actions and your words. For instance, if you are believing God for financial deliverance and a debt free status; controlling your daily spending habits and paying bills timely and in the best manner possible support your belief in God. However, reckless spending, and failing to meet the financial obligations you can afford to meet contradict believing God for financial deliverance and a debt free status.
The same guidelines apply if we believe God for healing our physical bodies. Lifestyle changes to support our belief in God are quite appropriate. Be careful what you eat, what you drink, and include exercise in your daily life. When we ask God for healing and include absolutely no change in our daily intake and activities – we are a perfect display of faith without works.
Ask God to help you! He is waiting and willing!
