Follow in the footsteps of your mentor

Peter learned how to operate in ministry from Jesus.  Jesus spoke of Peter when he said, “I prayed for you that your faith fail not.”(Luke 22:32) Jesus was again speaking to Peter when he said, “upon this rock I build my church”. Even though Peter made major mistakes in his life -- he did not forget the example Jesus left for him. In Mark 5:40 Jesus put the people out of the house before raising Jairus’ daughter from the dead. In Acts 9:40 Peter put the people out before he prayed for Dorcas to be raised from the dead.

We can take note of how we need to separate ourselves from people when they do not trust God to heal, save, and deliver. In other words, when you are believing God for something – DO NOT listen to the naysayers.

·        Don’t let anyone change your mind about receiving a promise from the Lord

·        Don’t let anyone contaminate your faith in God while you wait for your miracle to occur

·        No good will come through negative conversation

·        You limit yourself when you allow doubt to get in your head

As Peter was taught by Jesus – we are taught by the pattern Jesus left for us to follow. Jesus serves as our mentor and we are to follow in his footsteps.
